why bucking tradition?

Elevate your horsemanship journey, find peace in nature, and discover your purpose as an intentional equestrian. We work towards taking emotional inventory and accountability for what we bring into our sessions. This enables us to protect the peace for our horses, and to be fully present in our detailed day to day care. Each horse we connect with is seen and honored as an individual, its sanctity celebrated. The horse is held in reverence at Bucking Tradition, and we invite you to come sit in the light.

“Ashley is the definition of a true horsewoman. She is an excellent trainer, seen in her expert knowledge of the industry and of horses. The genuine care she has for both rider and horse is her greatest asset.

Ashley helps riders build true connections to their horses. Under her training I’ve built my confidence, horsemanship skills and ability to connect with my horse on a deeper level. Her expert training across multiple disciplines, provides a well rounded experience and learning opportunity for her horses and riders.

Ashley generates an inclusive atmosphere and her kind heart creates a safe, enjoyable, and educational environment for horses and riders to thrive.” - Abbey B

“Ashley is one of the most educated and empathetic people I know! I can go to her with a horse related question and leave not only with an answer but also life advice as well! There’s never any feeling of judgment and she always makes sure I understand what she’s explaining. I can not recommend bucking tradition enough!!” - Casey L

“Highly recommend Ashley! She’s an amazing horsewoman as well as an amazing person. I’ve ridden my whole life, but of course fell out of it after having kids. I finally came back to it with much support and encouragement from Ashley. She not only helps me with my riding skills, but she builds my and my horses confidence effortlessly. She’s there for me to whine to, but also makes sure I’m being true to myself and gently pushes for my very best. She’s definitely the best instructor I’ve ever had. I could go on and on but you’ll just know you’re in the right place when you meet her” - Kimberly S

“I started riding horses a few years ago at a typical lesson barn. I learned the basics of the mechanics of riding, but didn’t know very much about horsemanship. When I started taking lessons with Ashley, I found her approach was totally different, and have been working with her for the last 1.5 years. Ashley has a “whole horse” perspective. Lessons with her span everything from equine nutrition, biomechanics, herd dynamics, psychology, to the finer points of equitation. She’s taught me how to find a balanced seat, rehab injured horses, introduce bridle pressure to green horses, sit through a spook, work through behavioral issues, confidently hack out alone, etc. Basically, whatever level of horsemanship you’re looking to achieve, Ashley can help you get there.” - Patti C
